the spiderweb die is by la la Land crafts and the pumpkin is a DD paper art Halloween product,
The fancy edged die peeking out is a new die by Noor design,
Closer view,
I've used the Noor die inside too for the verse which says

My first Altered art grunge journal cover with Tutorial

Hi guys, back today with a project I've done just for fun!! had a fab time playing with stencils, grunge and paint lol!!!

I've done a tutorial too so grab a brew and a biccie as picture heavy!!!
List of products used below at the end,
Tutorial:
Take some Designer paper for the front cover, mine was too small in length so i joined it, the join will be hidden so don't worry about it too much,

When this was done i added a layer of clear Gesso to seal the paper,

Next I added some stencil work with a couple of different stencils and grunge paste,

As you can see when this was dry I also added a couple of bits of lace,

For some added depth and interest I added a Dusty Attic Skeleton clock piece which I had saved from  a previous  project, and layered this onto the bottom left,

To try to reduce the amount of pictures, I've shown the next bit with another DA chippie added to the top and some flowers too (not shown) and then I went over everything with a couple of layers of white Gesso,
While this dries take your journal and cover the front of the book with a layer of white Gesso too,

This stage is great fun, spray your desired inks randomly and to add interest you can let some of it run by holding it up vertically, if there is lots of ink in one or two places blot dry with kitchen towel then heat with a heat gun, you can also see i added a couple of clock hands in metal, these I left in their original state and sprayed over the top of them too,
Do the same on the journal cover too, oops got my shadow on this too!

To add definition I went over some of the chippies etc with silks for more depth and a little sheen,
I had previously coloured up this fabby Bloom girl stamp with my copics,(I bought this last week when on my hols and got another one too!! they just fell into my basket lol,) when finished I fussy cut it out then layered it onto a  scrap of paper keeping in the colours scheme,
When everything is dry add the image and  a little more detail with cheesecloth, metal charm, Tim Holtz sentiments and a little puple colour on the top of the cheesecloth and lace with distress ink,

some close up photos of the cover!

Halloween at Sweet Lilac

Hi guys, I'm here today hopefully as this is on scheduled post,
the challenge today is of course for Sweet Lilac and is
HALLOWEEN
so get out your flowers and join us in the fun!!!

I loved making this project but it's hard to photograph lol,
I made the coffin from a template off the internet and decided I wanted to offset the lid so I could add some cheesecloth for mock cobwebs and some real looking spiders I bought last year from Hobby Craft, they scare me to death if left around!!!
I've used a Saturated Canary witches digi which has three witches togther but I only used the middle one and coloured her with my copics then fussy cut her out, she stands where she is by adding a piece of acetate behind her, the beautiful roses in front of her are from Sweet Lilac,
The fence and gate are made with a Memory Box die and again layered onto acetate, it doesn't show as  much in real life,

The toadstools and pumpkins came from Hobby Craft a couple of years ago and I had them in my stash, the paper art skeleton, spider, cat and ghost are from Dutch Doobadoo, 472.950.001
on the coffin lid I've used some more of the fabulous Sweet lilac flowers, and a pumpkin charm from stash,

I hope you will join us in the fun!!
Happy Crafting!!!

Too cute to spook

Hi guys, Back today with a scrap book page or at least my version of one!!! we don't really do much scrapbooking or do Halloween over here but i had a fabby picture of Tegan taken when she had been painting at playgroup with black paint!! most of which she got on her lol, she also had a little bed head going on too so I took the picture thinking she looks  so cute and it will come in for Halloween!!!
Over at Dusty Attic they have a fab sketch again, with the theme of Halloween if possible, well here goes Mmmm!!!!

I actually used three images of the photo but have managed to cover most of one of them he he, the papers are a mixture of brands and used them for the colours,

I wanted to create a Halloween scene so i loosely followed the sketch and used some of the papers with layering, paint splats and stenciling using a DD Stars stencil on the top using Studio 490 Embossing paste in Metallic silver and a spiderweb one at the bottom, this is done using DD modeling paste,

the black paper art pumpkin, cross, gear and cat are also from DD, the grass die is by Noor,
The awesome  Dusty Attic Chipboard skeleton clock I added black soot and weathered wood distress inks too and i did the same for the DA cogs #1 too, the DA twig I left in it's natural colour,
The skull, ghost  and bones are by La La La Land crafts, tree is a Memory Box die,
Flowers are from Sweet lilac and my stash, remember we have an Autumn Colour challenge over at the Sweet Lilac blog
Behind the photo's is a Tim Holtz Rickety house die, it only comes out to play once or twice a year so i thought I'd give it an airing lol,
The spiderweb die is by La la Land crafts too and the fabby spider and large bat on the other side was a gift from a friend, thanks hunny,
The wooden letters I bought the other day and thought they looked more spooky placed like this,
To finish off the page I added Snow Tex here and there to create a dusty, cobwebby ( Technical term) look,
Full view again, I'm loving using these Dusty Attic pieces which  give added interest and texture to my projects which as you know is something I love to do, here is the gorgeous DA sketch,

Having said we don't do Halloween I will be back soon hopefully with a couple of other projects on this theme, for DT work!!  one of which will be on scheduled post as were away for a few days on a little hols, It's  been pouring down with rain and freezing cold today, so hope that goes away before next week too, lol

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas with a small tutorial too

Hi guys,
It's time again for our new challenge over at We Do Doobadoo, this time it's
Christmas,

I've used my new MDF Tree set which was in my DD DT kit and couldn't resist using it straight away!!!

Tutorial:
Warning picture heavy, grab a brew first!!!  lol

This is the basic MDF base and i started off by painting it with two layers of Gesso, while this dried I took the trees and added some designer paper onto one side

I went round the edges with a little chalk ink, and painted the tree trunk with chestnut brown Silks paint,

Take a piece of cheescloth and layer on the top of the base painting it in place with another layer of Gesso,
snip the cheesecloth away from the holes for the trees,

When dry add another layer on top ruching up the cheesecloth here and there as desired, again remove the cheesecloth from the holes,
if desired add a few more strips of cheesecloth on top of the raised layers to add depth, let it dry,

Add liquid applique to the tree edges for the appearance of snow, mine was running out or I would have used more lol, heat set with a heat gun,

To finish them off I added a pearl string on each of them, and pushed them into the  prepared base,

I took a Die cut house and stenciled some mock effect tiles on the roof with a DD burlap stencil and the new DD modeling paste, when the house was put together I added a DD star on the end of the roof and added a strip of acetate behind the house to make it stand up on the base,
Back view shown with acetate adhered on,

Front view, I added a DD paper art tree too,
And also some more behind,

I used one of the new Kraft sign posts from the paper art fences and again added acetate behind to make it stand up,
The sleigh was a gift from my sis and I added a pearl flourish on the body with glitter glue on the sleds and a Magnolia mini stamp fixed on the top too,
The cute Deer stamp - leading the way Rudolph is also a  Magnolia stamp too, both were coloured with my copics then fussy cut out,
The Deer are cut from a die, cut out of Kraft card stock and for the antlers I added a hint of frantage in Ivory, these Deer were also fixed onto the base using a strip of acetate,
I added some course glitter glue all over the base to add sparkle ( not that it's showing much in the pictures!!!!) and a little more texture too,
I left a space behind the house for a battery operated Tea Light so the windows have a warm glow in the dark, Santa is warming his toes on the fire before his nights work lol!!!!!

Hope you have enjoyed my tutorial. go check out all the fabby DD products and have a go yourself,
